Twenty Dagenham pupils performed at the prestigious Royal Ballet School to mark their graduation from a popular dance programme.
The youngsters, from a number of primary schools, had all taken part in the Royal Ballet School’s primarySTEPS workshops, which offers ballet teaching in areas where access to the arts is difficult.
To celebrate the end of the programme they, along with pupils from Swindon, gave family and friends a demonstration of what they had learnt at White Lodge, the school’s campus in Richmond Park on Sunday.
The Dagenham pupils also put on their own unique dance piece, which they called Next?
Pippa Cobbing, primarySTEPS coordinator, said: “The Dagenham primarySTEPS graduates really excelled themselves at their performance last weekend. Their focus, confidence and commitment were outstanding. They are great ambassadors for the programme, which aims to develop children’s dance skills through encouraging their creativity.”
As reported in the Post, primarySTEPS student Sam Lee featured on an ITV documentary after landing a full time place at the school.
