Think Tank Chatham House recruited pupils from Dagenham for a debate on the #MeToo movement.
The movement went viral in October, following allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein of sexual misconduct. Its’ influence has since spread beyond the film industry, shedding light on the abuses of power suffered by women in a variety of sectors.
In an effort to recruit some young voices into the debate, Chatham House invited pupils from All Saints Catholic School to contribute to the discussion.
Assistant headteacher Nick Pauro took 40 politics students to the Picadilly Think Tank to share their views.
He said: “Our A-level students shone in what is a global centre for policy making and debate. Full of confidence, our pupils discussed in what ways, if any, #MeToo had moved society closer to gender equality.
“The esteemed panel, including Baroness Kennedy of the Shaws, were rightly impressed by what our pupils brought to the debate and plan to talk again as guests in school.”
