Janis Davis said: “I am delighted with the results once again.

“Not only have there been increases in standard grade 9-4 passes and strong grade 9-5 passes, but also in the number of students achieving grade 9.

“As a school we are very pleased.”

Top achievers at the Parsloes Avenue, Dagenham school include Suvika Kumaravelu, whose results included six 9s.

She will now be studying chemistry, biology, maths and further maths at A-level.

Another pupil to pick up 9s — the highest mark possible — is Rida Imran, whose grades included three in English, English literature and history.

She will be taking A-levels in English literature, history and psychology.

Ore Pelumi, who achieved four 9s, was “relieved” to open his marks.

“It went really well,” he said, adding: “Yesterday I was so nervous I couldn’t sleep.”
