Pupils in Barking and Dagenham will be heading to the cinema as they take part in a country-wide school film festival.
National Schools Film Week, between October 15 and 26, will see 470,000 students across the UK enjoying a host of films .
The festival’s goal is to support classroom teaching by providing pupils with an experience that links directly to elements of the curriculum.
Dagenham Vue cinema will be screening a number of films for Barking and Dagenham students including Brave, Diary of a Wimpey Kid: A Dog’s Life, Mirror Mirror, Persepolis and Fish Tank.
Parveen Thiara, media studies teacher at Barking Abbey School, said: “National Schools Film Week allows students the full experience of what watching a film should be about.
“The atmosphere of the low light, surround sound, seating plays an important role in how students experience watching films.”
