TV scientist Brian Cox is encouraging pupils from Barking and Dagenham to follow career paths in science and technology through a new schools competition.
Today (December 13) is the last day schools can apply to enter the Big Bang Fair competition and win the chance of a special lesson with the celebrity professor, as well as the distinguished mantle of Big Bang Class of 2013.
Professor Cox said: “The important thing is to make sure that people understand that science is something they can do. It’s a real misconception that you have to be a genius, you just have to be interested and open to new ideas.”
The competition is now in its third year and Professor Cox said he was “excited to give my science lesson of a lifetime again.”
