Pupils from five Barking and Dagenham schools were able to discover more about science and the aviation industry at an event organised by London City Airport.
The 14 to 16-year-olds were among 400 pupils from 25 schools across east London to visit the ExCeL for the annual STEM in aviation event.
Thursday’s event also saw the announcement of a £5,000 bursary from the airport for east London pupils wishing to pursue a STEM - science, technology, engineering and maths - subject in higher education.
Airport CEO Robert Sinclair said: “At London City Airport, we are acutely aware of the need to attract the best engineering and technology minds to meet the skills challenges of the future.
“Today is about reaching these school pupils at a formative stage of their education, opening their eyes to the possibilities of STEM, and breaking down historic barriers to accessing these fields.”
