Celebrity builder Tommy Walsh chisels workers into shape as he joins a talent search to find the best apprentices in the UK.
The TV builder, 55, gave young handymen a helping hand at the London heat of the SkillBuild contest at Barking College, Dagenham Road, on Thursday.
He said: “I can’t emphasise enough how important it is to help nurture the skills of our young people and to recognise the value that they bring to the UK economy. Investment in nurturing high quality skills is always important, but even more so in these challenging economic times.”
The best apprentices, due to be unveiled this week, will go through to the finals in Leeds between September 14 and 16.
And the cream of the crop will be entered into a worldwide, super-builder competition in Leipzig, Germany, in 2013.
