To celebrate Mother’s Day the Barking Bathhouse spa and the Post is offering one lucky mum a free treatment.

The Bathhouse, in Barking Learning Centre, Barking Town Square, has a selection of massages, from Swedish to Thai, relaxing facials and manicures and pedicures.

The spa was originally an innovative custom built prefab facility in Axe Street, offering residents a bar, sauna, cold room and reasonably priced treatment throughout the summer months. As the wooden structure had no heating it closed in October, but the treatments were transferred to rooms in the Barking Learning Centre. There are now plans to open a permanent facility in Cambridge Road, which would be similar in style to the Axe Street building but with heating.

The Bathhouse and Post are offering one mum a chance to win a treatment of her choice worth up to £35 (no treatments cost more than this). Just answer this simple question: In which month did the original Bathhouse in Axe Street close?

Write the answer with your details, and the name of your mum if you are nominating her, and send it to Barking Bathhouse Competition, c/o Sara Odeen-Isbister, Barking and Dagenham Post, 539 High Road, Ilford, IG1 1UD. The deadline is March 15 and the first one drawn from the postbag on the closing date will win.
