Emergency crews managed to prevent a woman from self-harming during a six-and-a-half-hour stand-off in the early hours of this morning.

Police and ambulance teams were called to a house in Halbutt Street, Dagenham, just after 1am, to reports of a woman in her 50s threatening to hurt herself.

Crews engaged with the lady upon arrival before she voluntarily left the house unharmed at 7.30am.

The woman was then taken to hospital for a mental health assessment.
