A MALE nurse born in Nigeria is being probed by the Home Office amid allegations that he married his own daughter to get her a British visa.
Jelili Adesanya, 54, of Valence Avenue, Dagenham, allegedly faked a wedding ceremony with Karimotu Adenike to fool immigration officials, it is claimed in a story broken by a national newspaper.
It has been alleged that she is now planning a divorce in order to bring her husband and their children over from Nigeria.
Mr Adesanya worked as a Home Office occupational nurse from Gatwick Airport, but was sacked over 'poor performance' in March this year.
The pair face being dragged through the courts and deported if found guilty of a sham marriage.
Mr Adesanya was unavailable for comment but has denied the allegations in the article.
Neighbours in Dagenham recognised Mr Adesanya from newspaper cuttings, and also the woman who is said to visit him from time to time.
He was employed by the Home Office through a contractor called Health Management in January. The company have declined to comment.
Mr Adesanya was on probation, had no access to IT systems, and no role in assessing visa applications before his sacking.
UK Boarder Agency deputy chief executive, Jonathan Sedgwick, said: "These individuals are already under investigation, and I want to make it clear that abuse of our immigration laws will not be tolerated.
"If we identify marriages which we believe are not genuine, we will challenge them, and prosecute where appropriate.
"We are determined to send home any foreign nationals convicted of these types of crimes once they have served their sentences.
