THEY were gonna live forever, but in fact, they've now been superseded by a new bunch of singing, dancing wannabes.
FAME (PG) is a reinvention of the original Oscar-winning hit film, following a talented group of students at the New York City High School of Performing Arts.
In an incredibly competitive atmosphere, plagued by self-doubt, each student's passion will be put to the test. In addition to their artistic goals, they have to deal with everything else that goes along with high school, a tumultuous time full of schoolwork, deep friendships, budding romance, and self-discovery - a kind of High School Musical for young adults.
Debbie Allen, who played teacher Lydia Grant in the TV spin-off of the original, is Principal Simms.
Kelsey Grammer and his Frasier co-star Bebe Neuwirth are among the grown-ups.
