A FATHER of two, who moved into his mother's house to care for her while she battled against cancer, has been told he will be evicted.

Billy Davis' mum passed away on December 19 last year.

He had earlier moved into her house in Davington Road, Dagenham, with his two sons aged eight and five, to care for her.

But his mother, June Davis, died just days after her chemotherapy treatment began after suffering an allergic reaction to it.

Now Barking and Dagenham Council housing officers have told Billy he has to move out as his family does not fit 'the criteria' to remain in the two bedroom property.

Billy, who is unemployed, says he could never afford the rent in a privately rented house.

He said: "The rent is 250 a week in private housing."

Billy grew up in the house in Davington Road."

However he has not been living there for over a year.

He said: "This is the house I grew up in; I have so many memories here."

A council spokesman said: "In order to succeed a tenancy the person must have been living in the property for at least 12 months when their relative dies.

"Because Mr Davis only moved into Davington Road in April 2008 we were unfortunately not able to offer him the tenancy.

"Our housing advice service is currently working with Mr Davis to examine the housing options available to him.
