Budding hair and make-up artist Amaya Brito, 18, was over the moon to land an amazing opportunity.
What Amaya didn’t expect was that she would get experience on screen as well as behind the scenes.
After spotting international celebrity hair and make-up artist, Alyn Waterman, at an industry event Amaya seized the moment to speak to him.
Her initiative paid off and Alyn, whose clients have included Joan Collins, offered her work experience.
Amaya found herself on the set of ‘The First’, a short film about a young woman’s first day as a bus conductor during World War One.
But when hair and make-up for the cast was finished her work was not done.
Amaya said: “The director asked me to be an extra! I had to sit on the bus, then take a ticket and walk off.”
Although Amaya worked a nine hour shift she says the fantastic experience made up for the long day.
And Alyn was so delighted with her work he’s promised to let her know if any work experience opportunities come up in the future.
