IN the battle of the borough for bragging rights. a stunning third rink win for Plashet Park earned a thrilling draw with Central Park.

In a close opening rink, it was the Plashet Park side skipped by John Cooper and containing Reg Evett, George Davies and Cliff Dye who drew first blood, winning 17-6 against P Keyte, J Lightfoot, B Walsh and skip M Hodges.

The advantage was not to last however, as Central Park came back strongly on rink two, as skip A Dobson, F Brokes, J Curtis and J Deemer were too good for Peter Chilkes, Mike Mullinder, Ted King and Alf Goring, winning 22-18.

The pressure was firmly on Plashet heading into the final rink and the team led by Vic Byrne, containing Alan Hogwood, George Gale and Jim Brandy, duly delivered as they won 20-17 against G Bentley, J Grummit, P Salmon and skipper W Pope to claim a share of the spoils.
