FIRE-FIGHTERS were called to a bookies after an electrical fire broke out forcing them to cut power to the flats above.

Officers were called around 9pm on Sunday June 1 to a Ladbrokes in Oxlow lane, Dagenham.

When it looked as though the small fire might threaten the homes upstairs firemen had to cut the electricity for the whole row.

According to fire-fighters several residents had to be evacuated and then relocated into temporary accommodation for the night.

The fire was finally brought under control half an hour later.
