Firefighters at Barking fire station are hosting a charity car wash.

You can pay what you feel for the car wash, and attendees can also get a free home fire safety visit from a firefighter where you can get smoke alarms fitted and discuss evacuation plans for your home.

All money raised from the event will go to The Fire Fighters Charity, an organisation that was formed during the Blitz to support the bereaved families of firefighters.

Today, The Fire Fighters Charity helps thousands of serving and retired fire service personnel and their families in times of need.

Firefighter Michael McCallum said the charity do vital work to help injured firefighters “back to work or on the road to recovery”.

The charity car wash is taking place on Saturday, August 4 from 12.30pm to 4pm at Barking fire station. You can access the station via Alfred’s Way.
