A derelict bowling pavilion went up in flames last night.

Firefighters from Barking station were called to Parsloes Park in Dagenham shortly after 8pm, where the disused building was alight.

A fifth of the pavilion was damaged in the blaze. The pavilion has stood empty since 2012, when a council rent hike led to its closure.

Police were called to the scene but are not investigating the fire.
