A former fish bar owner was fined £2,000 for historic hygiene offences – including serving a customer chips with a cockroach.

Haci Tunc, 56, of Nelson Road, Chingford, pleaded guilty to four breaches of food hygiene rules dating back to 2012 when he ran Top Deck Fish Bar in Station Parade, Barking.

At Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Friday last week he was ordered to pay a £50 victim surcharge and £2,550 in costs.
