Four arrested in dawn raids

TWO people have been arrested in Dagenham in connection with an armed robbery in which a man was shot in the chest. Police swooped on an address in Dagenham shortly at 4am today and arrested a 61-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman. At the same time a

TWO people have been arrested in Dagenham in connection with an armed robbery in which a man was shot in the chest.

Police swooped on an address in Dagenham shortly at 4am today and arrested a 61-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman.

At the same time a 35-year-old man was arrested in Canning Town and a 49-year-old man seized in Canvey Island.

All were taken to police stations in Essex. They were questioned about a number of armed robberies across the south East, including one at Rayleigh Railway Station, Essex, on May 25 2007.

Commuter Adam Mapleson was shot as he intervened to help security guards who were robbed delivering cash to an ATM. He survived.
