Growing Communities farm in Dagenham is inviting hungry residents to pop along to a free cooking workshop on Sunday.

Participants will get to make crisps and pesto at the farm in Rainham Road North with the help of some unexpected ingredients.

Project coordinator Kerry Rankine is putting on workshops as part of the Great Get Together weekend of events across the borough.

“We are really excited about the chance to show people what they can cook with fresh produce from the farm,” she said. “It’s something everyone who likes eating can enjoy.”

Funded by Big Lottery Fund, the farm produces over five tonnes of organic vegetables every year as well as running events and training for local residents, schoolchildren and unemployed parents.

The workshops will take place during Dagenham Farm’s weekly Open Farm Sunday drop-in from 11am to 3pm. The workshop sessions will run from 11.30-12.30pm and 1pm to 2pm.
