THUGS stormed into a flat in broad daylight terrorising a family of four.

Dennis Pope, 51, of Alderman Avenue, Barking, had won about £13,000 in betting shops over the past 18 months but on Sunday, May 18, a gang of five stormed into his maisonette and demanded the money.

The tow truck driver was at home with his wife, Julie, 47, and their daughters Nikki, 21, and Cyndi, 19, when they heard a knock at their door at about 4.30pm.

Mr Pope said: "There were five of them and two had balaclavas.

"They shouted 'We want the betting shop money!' "

"They were threatening to cut me with a screwdriver. I got the money for them. They pushed me to the floor."

Police confirmed an amount of cash, a laptop, a mobile phone and jewellery were reported as stolen.

Anyone with information should call Police on 020 8217 5535.
