Archant

Thirty people are going to ‘sleep rough’ on a rooftop to raise money for homeless people.

On Friday, the brave fundraisers, who all work for Gascoigne Primary School, will camp out at the new Shaftesburys in Gascoigne Road to highlight the amount of people living in temporary accommodation or on the streets in Barking and Dagenham.

Family liaison practitioner Kelly McKinnon came up with the idea to raise money for the Hope For Barking & Dagenham night shelter.

She said: “The generosity from the parents and pupils has been overwhelming with some lovely comments from the parents who are really supporting the event.”

You can donate at the collection buckets on the school gates or send a cheque to Gascoigne Primary School, Gascoigne Road, IG11 7DR, made payable to ‘Hope for Barking & Dagenham’.
