THE FAMILY of a man who died from cancer have donated thousands of pounds to the hospital ward that cared for him.
Geoff Young, 64, from Hornchurch lost his battle for life on February 22.
He was cared for by staff on the Mandarin B ward at Queen's Hospital, Romford and last week his family handed them a cheque for 2,600.
Geoff's wife Ann and children Chris and Louise asked that instead of flowers at his funeral they wanted friends to give money to this worthy cause.
Ann said: "Geoff used to think it was a waste spending so much money on flowers."
The donation will be used to buy a new IV pump, used to give chemotherapy to patients.
