More than 40 women gathered at the Barking Learning Centre to network and engage with inspirational female speakers from a range of backgrounds.
The event was organised ahead of Women’s History Month, in March, by the All Women’s Network, which works to empower and inspire women and girls in Barking and Dagenham.
All Women’s Network founder Hannah Kupoluyi said: “I’m very happy with the turn-out. We held this event to empower women in the community to connect with other women.”
Friday’s event kicked off with registration and early-bird networking, before speakers addressed the audience on issues ranging from business, fashion and heath to domestic violence.
Guest speakers included Barking and Dagenham Citizens Advice Bureau director Pip Salvador-Jones, Barking and Dagenham cabinet member for equality and cohesion Cllr Sade Bright and fashion designer Kemi Oloyede.
Representatives of Topshop, Ace Events and Which Vision also addressed the event.
Looking forward, Ms Kupoluyi has big plans for the All Women’s Network.
“This event was a pilot – we want to develop it by getting sponsorship and funding, especially ahead of Women’s Empowerment Month,” she told the Post.
