The borough’s winter light festival returns to Eastbury Manor House this week.

GLOW festival will transform the 16th century manor into a shimmering spectacle on Friday and Saturday with specially-made light installations.

Back by popular demand, the unique show attracted 2,500 visitors to Eastbury for its inaugural event two years ago, combining glowing flowers with UV face paint and whispering trees.

This year you can brave a wild wood full of strange spirits, discover lost creatures of the deep or stop by Metamorphosis, where alchemy transforms lead into gold and gives things that crawl the gift of flight.

Organised in partnership with Creative Barking and Dagenham, the event in Eastbury Square, Barking runs from 5.30pm to 9.30pm.

Entry to the garden will be staggered in half-hourly time slots. Last admission at 9pm.

Tickets cost £5 for adults with free entry for children aged under 16.
