Nearly twenty new homes are to be squeezed into a dense four tower-block complex.

Last night at Barking Town Hall, councillors overwhelmingly backed a proposal to build 17 additional flats in a development in Cambridge Road, Barking.

The new flats will add to an existing approved application by Swan Housing Association, creating a total of 291 homes. A third are affordable.

Speaking at the Development Control Board meeting in Clockhouse Avenue, resident Paul Scott said: “This will mean more noise and more disturbance.”
