A REAL treat was in store for a 100-year-old rest home resident when Mark Noble showed up to say Happy Birthday.

The West Ham footie star made a surprise guest appearance at Melina Beasley's birthday party at Little Gaynes Rest Home, Upminster on February 28.

Little Gaynes Manager Pat Cogley explained: "Melina's husband and her whole family are avid West Ham fans going back generations so it was a huge compliment to them.

"Mark's a young man and he was willing to give up his time for a lady who is a hundred years old which I think is very commendable. Personally I would like to say a huge thank you to him. It really made her day."

Life-long Barking resident Melina was joined in the evening by her three fellow centenarians in the home - Little Gaynes is in the unusual position of having four residents who are all 100 or older.

Family and friends surrounded Melina at the party, including her daughter and grandchildren, who made a huge effort to be there, flying more than 6000 miles from Baltimore, America for the big day.

Sue Miles, Senior Care Assistant at Little Gaynes, said: "It was lovely. The room was packed with people. Melina had a wonderful time. It was really good night.
