A Barking running club wants to help women over 30 build confidence, stay healthy and meet new friends.
Boundary Road community group Studio 3 Arts has partnered with plus-sized marathon runner Julie Creffield to set up Too Fat To Run?, a free fitness club for women in the borough who consider themselves inactive or overweight.
Funding for the project, co-run with Barking Enterprise Centre and Barking and Dagenham Council. has been granted by Sports England to help recruit “running ambassadors” and helping them train as coaches.
“Being a plus-sized runner myself, and a member of Julie’s running club, I know the brilliant women across the borough will get a lot out of it,” said Studio 3 Arts CEO and artistic director Liza Vallance.
