A greater proportion of babies were born in Barking and Dagenham than in any other London borough in 2014.
There were 79.4 live births per 1,000 women aged 15 to 44, according to data released by the Office of National Statistics.
This translates into 3,569 babies born to mothers living in the borough.
Nationally, only three other regions had a higher birth rate than Barking and Dagenham, with the region of Forest Heath in Suffolk ranking top with 82.7 births per 1,000 women.
The City of London had the lowest birthrate in the capital, with 37.3 births per 1,000 women.
Rates were high across east London, with Newham, Waltham Forest and Redbridge having the next three highest rates at 76.6, 74.2 and 72.0 births per 1,000 women respectively.
