Barking MP Margaret Hodge will be travelling to Downing Street with councillors on Thursday to ask David Cameron to crush plans to close King George A&E.
Mrs Hodge handed out leaflets at Barking Station on Friday to build support for her visit to Number 10.
Health Secretary Andrew Landsley has ordered a review into the decision to close the A&E and maternity wards at the Goodmayes Hospital, used by many in the borough.
But the group want to press the prime minister to halt the plans, which would see services redirected to Queen’s Hospital in Romford, and will hand in a petition on the day.
