A cricket coaching programme to help people get their lives on track is being run by Essex Cricket in Dagenham.

The scheme, which is run in conjunction with the council, is aimed at people who are trying to address problems such as addiction or who are previous offenders.

The county champions have been developing the coaching skills of attendees over the course of eight sessions run as part of the One Hit to Another scheme in Mayesbrook Park.

Cllr Maureen Worby, cabinet member for social care and health integration, said: “The recovery programmes provide fantastic opportunities to support individuals in their recovery and enhance their health and wellbeing.”

Sonia Drozd, senior commissioner for adults’ care and support, said: “With the help of Essex Cricket Club, we have been able to put in place a strong programme that can help individuals deliver cricket to a wider community and become a coach at the same time.”
