Health chiefs are urging people whose health could be seriously put at risk if they catch flu to get a free jab.

People who could see complications if they catch the bug include pensioners, pregnant women, and those with health conditions such as severe asthma, chest or heart pains and diabetes.

The vaccine changes each year so vulnerable patients will need a new jab and should contact their GP.

An NHS spokesman added the latest jab could not give people the flu as it does not contain a live virus.
