Health experts will help smokers kick the habit at a Dagenham store this week.
The NHS workers will be at Asda in Merrielands Crescent on Friday to give shoppers timetables to quit, top tips to resist cravings and test the age of their lungs.
NHS bosses said that smoking was one of the biggest causes of premature death in Barking and Dagenham and accounted for more than 100,000 deaths in the UK each year.
Almost a quarter of adults - 23.9 per cent - smoke in Barking and Dagenham and more than one in 10 women - 13.6 per cent - smoke during pregnancy, according to a Department of Health report published last year.
The NHS Stop Smoking Roadshow will be at the supermarket between 11am and 2pm.
