A smoking advice event was held in Vicarage Fields shopping centre on Tuesday ahead of a national campaign to help people quit.
The Stoptober all-day Roadshow also offered shoppers a free carbon monoxide level reading and a lung age test.
The month-long Stoptober Campaign, run by Pulic Health England, says people who quit smoking in October could gain an extra seven days of life every 28 days for the rest of their life.
Last year 160,000 people signed up for the campaign.
