Young people in Barking and Dagenham affected by substance abuse are being encouraged to attend the relaunch of a support service later this month.

CRI Subwize is a drug and alcohol support service that offers advice to young people up to 19 years who are either using drugs or alcohol or affected by substance misuse by their parents or carers.

First set up in 2008, it has just secured funding to deliver the service in Barking and Dagenham for another three years.

Cllr John White, cabinet member for children’s services, said: “Substance abuse can cause real heartache and pain in the lives of young people and their families, which is why we want to focus on delivering a service to our residents which not only looks after the young person but family members as well, so that they are better equipped to help the young person.”

The relaunch - which will showcase the work the service does - takes place on Tuesday July 23 from 3pm to 6pm at Barking and Dagenham Foyer in Wakering Road, Barking.
