THERE was some exciting action during the first round of the Ladies National Golf Club Classic which saw Ilford drawn away to local rivals Wanstead.
In a team event of five ladies, Ilford emerged victorious, winning by 31/2-11/2, and those who impressed included team captain Nuala Heath along with ladies' captain Tracy Lawrence, Jane Atwell, Mary Buckley and Bridget Guckian.
The team now wait to find out their opponents for the second round.
