SIXTH FORMERS were treated to a 'rare insight' into the world of work during a series of motivational workshops.

Year 12 students at Robert Clack Upper School, in Gosfield Road, Dagenham, were visited for the second time last Thursday by motivational speaker Gina Gardner.

Gina spoke to the pupils about the interview process, building on the knowledge they had gained in the previous week's workshop in which they discussed applying for jobs.

Deputy Head, Michelle Sorohan, said: "The feedback we have had from students has been extremely positive.

"It's given them a rare insight into what recruitment is like from the perspective of the employer."

The final session, due to take place next week, will deal with how to make the most of the opportunity when the students do find work - how to behave in a professional manner and work towards promotion.

Michelle said: "We have been very lucky to have Gina in. The talks are pitched at all levels.

"Whether pupils are leaving school to look for work or going on to university, they have found it very valuable.

"It doesn't matter where they are going because the principles are the same and they're learning things they can put into practice later in life.
