A celebration of Armed Forces Day is coming to Valence House in Dagenham next weekend.
Remnants of a V2 bomb that fell in Barking, Pathé newsreels, reprinted book ‘Danger Over Dagenham’ and Barking and Dagenham’s ‘Book of Remembrance’, which records the war efforts of all that have lived here, will be on display.
There will be a talk on how the First World War and Second World War affected families in Barking and Dagenham and a lunchtime performance by the Women’s Institute Choir.
Archive material, including first hand accounts of the Dunkirk invasion, will also be on show.
Deputy council leader Saima Ashraf said: “This year’s Armed Forces Day is set to be the best yet, with a fantastic array of historical displays on offer.
“I would encourage everyone to come down to Valence House and get involved in one of the borough’s most informative and insightful events.”
The event runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, June 30.
