A TERRIFIED family narrowly escaped with their lives when 'sick' firebugs torched the front and side exits from their home with petrol bombs.

Luckily, a 'hero' passer-by spotted the blaze, at 3am on Sunday, January 27, and banged on the windows of the burning house to alert the sleeping family.

Mum Olatoyosi Adeleke woke to find scorching flames creeping up the stairs from the front door and dragged her 12-year-old son through the blaze, in Homestead Road, Dagenham, to safety.

She told the POST: "I heard a banging at about 3am and when I went out into the hall it was full of smoke and fire.

"I dragged my son down through the fire and out the back door, and my daughter, who is 21, followed.

"She was scared because the only way out was through the flames, so I just told her to run."
