HAINAULT Roads Club super-veteran racer and Ilford resident Howard Staunton impressed in the San Fairy Ann CC 25-mile time trial in Rye, Kent on Sunday.
The course started near Romney Marsh, headed west to Brookland, then proceeded north to Ashford before returning to New Romney.
Just missing out on finishing under the hour, Staunton stopped the clock in a tremendous time of one hour and 17 seconds, securing him third place overall for the veteran's category. The event was won by Peter Tadros of In Gear Quickvit RT in a time of 54.06.
Meanwhile, Hainault Roads Club champion, Rob Dulson, faced his first 50-mile time trial of the season.
Competing in the Colchester Rovers promoted race, Dulson crossed the line in 2:10.30 for 31st position overall. The winning time was 1:52.02 by Paul Smith of PCA/Ciclos Uno.
