League Two: Dagenham & Redbridge 2 Mansfield Town 0

Luke Howell and Abu Ogogo were on target for the second game in succession as Daggers picked up their first home win of the season at the expense of Mansfield Town.

The duo netted in the 2-0 victory at Hartlepool United in the week and were on hand once again to make it back-to-back victories for Wayne Burnett’s side

Daggers boss Wayne Burnett, who was absent due to personal reasons, picked an unchanged side from Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Hartlepool United.

And the hosts showed some promise in the opening few moments as they had particular joy down the right hand side through Ashley Chambers and Matt Partridge.

The latter delivered a ball into the box on six minutes, but no-one could get on the end of it.

Ogogo’s fluffed shot was just held by Stags goalkeeper Sascha Studer, before the visitors first real chance came when Lee Beevers curled an effort over the bar after the Daggers failed to clear their lines from a corner.

Chambers linked up well with Cureton to see another effort blocked behind for a corner and Ashley Hemmings fizzed one across goal but wide.

The visitors were very direct, but home goalkeeper Liam O’Brien was rarely called into action.

Ryan Tafazolli headed straight at the former Brentford stopper from a Chris Clements free-kick, but the visitors had little else.

And just as the first half appeared to be ending goalless the Daggers struck in stoppage time when Cureton, picked up his third assist in succession.

The veteran striker pulled the ball back across and Howell was there again for his second goal in as many games.

It was a slow start to the second half, but Daggers doubled their cushion on the hour mark when Chambers’ ball in found Howell, but his shot was blocked.

However, Ogogo was there just inside the box to sidefoot home with the aid of a deflection.

Mansfield boss Paul Cox made a double substitution bringing on Sam Clucas and Fergus Bell and the visitors immediately looked brighter.

Clucas saw an effort cleared off the line by Saah after Ollie Palmer had forced Liam O’Brien into smart stop.

The visitors kept plugging away but the hosts could have added to their two-goal advantage when Hemmings and Chambers went close, only to be denied by Studer.
