London Fire Brigade was called to Woodward Road in Dagenham at about 2am.

A spokesperson for Essex & Suffolk Water said they have a crew on site working to fix the situation and have put leaflets through the doors of the affected homes explaining the situation.

An emergency water supply has been set up at the junction with Ellington Road, but now all the houses bar one have had their water restored.

Woodward Road closed in both directions at the A1153 Lodge Avenue junction. Work is expected to be complete by 4pm.
