A pupil from Barking Abbey School is waiting to find out if his impressive A-level results of three As will be enough to land him a place at Cambridge University to study history and politics.

Sam Wilson, who took history, politics and English literature, says he is “delighted” with his grades and never expected to do so well.

He said: “The school were brilliant with is. The teaching was fantastic and the help with UCAS was really useful and I definitely couldn’t have done it without the school’s help.

“I’m so happy with my results - I did not think I had done this well - and now I’ve just got to wait until the end of the day to find out whether I’m going to Cambridge, so it’s a bit nerve-racking!”

Whilst Sam has enjoyed his time at school, he’s excited to be moving on.

He added: “I’m ready for a new challenge and regardless of whether I go to Cambridge or my backup, I’m just excited to get going.”

Barking Abbey had a number of other success stories, including Jewel Famaks who is off the study international relations at Warwick University.

She said: “I’m really happy with my results and I’m excited to go and experience somewhere new.

“I think I have made my family proud by doing well and they are all really happy for me.”

Prashamth Mony, who got three A*s in maths, economics and politics, is off to study economics at the London School of Economics.

He said: “I’m really happy and my family are obviously very proud. I’m sad to be leaving the school - they were very helpful with my application - but I’m excited for the next step.”
