Large metal sheets are falling from the roof of a block of flats, and the Fire Brigade are warning people to stay away.

They were called to the block in Wakering Road, near Barking station, at around 2.30pm, and sent two engines and a specialist rescue vehicle.

People leaned out of windows to watch them as they headed up to secure the roof.

A firefighter told the Post: “There are big sheets of metal flying off of the roof in the wind.”

He added that the block would not be evacuated: “They are perfectly safe inside – in fact evacuating hundreds of people out of the building where there’s metal flying of the roof would be more dangerous.”
