THE movie Fame provided some of the iconic images of the 1980s - a crowd of performing-arts students dancing down New York's 46th Street, leaping on the top of parked cars, and singing: "I'm gonna live forever".

Fame the Musical offers the same exuberance, excitement and energy - tinged with comedy and some sadness as the youthful dreams of fame and fortune do not necessarily turn into reality.

Heart-warming, toe-tapping and a delight from start to finish, it is being brought to the Kenneth More Theatre stage, Oakfield Road, Ilford, by Ilford Operatic and Dramatic Society Youth, tomorrow (Thurs) to Saturday.

Tickets are 13.
