Thousands of children were jumping for joy and after scoring in a penalty shoot-out and on bouncy castles at the Barking Learning Centre on Saturday.

Families gathered for a fun day full of activities and children entertainment to celebrate Islam Awareness Week at the Town Quay, Barking library on the day.

Although, there was plenty of budding footballers, poet’s and animal-lovers, the main theme of the event was to remove any misconceptions surrounding Britain’s second largest faith group.

Farida Mohamed, event organiser, said: “We had a very lovely fun day, it was amazing the atmosphere was just great.”

“There was over 3,000 people there on the day.”

The day also saw stalls and artefacts set-up for a little browse, face-painting, henna tattoos and craft workshops all on offer as well to keep everyone entertained throughout.
