A ROMANIAN who came to Britain after serving a prison sentence for robbing pensioners was jailed for five years for raping a prostitute in his car.
Ioan Mesaros, 33, served eight years for a string of attacks on elderly victims at cash points.
He moved to Plaistow and attacked the call girl in Movers Lane, Barking.
The woman got into his Chrysler car and as father-of-two Mesaros stripped to his trousers and underpants.
She performed a sex act on him but Mesaros demanded full intercourse.
"She tried to reason with him, even offering to return the money he had given her," said prosecutor Gopal Hooper
"He said: 'I don't want the money, I want sex'.
"She tried to get out of the car but for some reason or another the door would not open.
"His whole weight was on her, he was pulling at the crotch of her trousers and trying to pull them off."
Mesaros tore her trousers and the woman was so terrified she agreed to sex.
"She knew he wanted sex and sex is what he would get," Mr Hooper said.
Mesaros sped off following the June 18 2006 attack but was later tracked down by detectives in March this year.
Officers discovered Mesaros and his then lover had carried out a series of callous muggings on Romanian pensioners before coming to Britain.
"The defendant has no convictions in this country but in 1997 in Romania he was convicted of seven robberies and one attempted robbery, all on elderly persons who had all recently withdrawn money from cashpoints," said Mr Hooper.
"His co-accused - referred to as his concubine in the documents - was found guilty of one robbery and one attempted robbery."
Mesaros served eight years of his 12-year sentence before travelling to the UK, the court heard.
He claimed Romanian cops 'tortured' him into confessing to the robberies.
Mesaros also denied raping the prostitute, claiming he only enjoyed oral sex with his victim. But the jury rejected his claims.
Judge Louise Kamill jailed Mesaros for five years and ordered he sign the sex offenders register for life.
The judge said: "I take into account that this offence for which I am sentencing you was in fact committed on a working girl - a prostitute who made herself available for money - and not perhaps a particularly vulnerable member of the public.
"She is, however, still a lady who attracts the protection of the courts."
Mesaros, of Grange Road, Plaistow, was convicted of rape.
