This colourful jigsaw, designed to commemorate the borough’s 50th anniversary, stole the show at a Barking arts and craft fair.
It was presented to the leader of the council, Cllr Darren Rodwell, and the Mayor of Barking and Dagenham, Cllr Elizabeth Kangethe, in the Town Square.
“It’s taken three volunteers several months to design it all,” said Lynne Hopkins, volunteer co-ordinator at Barking and Dagenham Volunteer Bureau, which organised Saturday’s fair.
“We’ve heard it may be going on display at the town hall, which is great.”
She explained that each piece of the jigsaw represents a different business or organisation, showing what the borough can achieve by working together.
It also incorporated the celebratory flag, designed by Barking and Dagenham College student Meritan Jashari.
“It’s really good to bring the community together,” said Lynne, who added that Cllr Rodwell seemed “very impressed” by the jigsaw.
The fair was organised to raise money for the volunteer bureau, with Lynne adding that she wanted to thank everyone who played a role in it.
The bureau will be helping out at other events throughout the year to mark 50 years since the creation of Barking and Dagenham.
