Not sure about Da Costa but, when we were looking to let JC go, a little cover is not a bad thing (tho I'd rather see MU, JT & DG play ahead of him).

The fact that we ultimately failed to sign anyone is more likely down to the players (can't say that I'm disappointed we didn't get Chamakh) and the late availability of the funds (the Villa money being confirmed at the last minute).

Would you really all rather we squandered the money on some Pony striker that was eager/willing to come to us (either of the C/Kamara's anyone?) OR wait for the right deal/player and give our kids (Hines, Nouble) a chance in the meantime?

Agreed that Diamanti is not going to fill in for CC as the lone striker but he will score a fair few goals from set-pieces alone.

I suspect that we will get another free agent to fill in until January at least as cover for CC. Hopefully they will be better than DDM & DT!
