NEW loan signing John Spicer goes straight into Orient's squad for Saturday's game at Brentford.

Orient boss Geraint Williams beat the deadline to capture the 26-year-old midfielder from Doncaster Rovers.

Spicer is no stranger to the area, as he was born in Romford and started his career at Arsenal.

Williams said: "John's very versatile and a good footballer. He had a good upbringing, starting at Arsenal and that's continued at Doncaster."

Spicer trained with the O's on Thursday and Williams added: "He's dying to get going and if he makes the team on Saturday, I'm sure he'll bring that added dynamism and knowledge to us."

Spicer will be with the O's until April 24, while winger Aaron Doran's loan spell is due to end after Saturday's derby duel at Brentford.

Spicer, left Arsenal and moved to Bournemouth and later signed for Burnley, where he made 69 Championship appearances, before moving to the Keepmoat Stadium in the summer of 2008.

He has made 50 league appearances for Rovers, with 15 of those as a substitute, and can play anywhere in midfield to give the O's a certain amount of versatility during his stay.
